  • FV5K - Planning the Route with Julia Griggs

When we were first discussing organising a 5K run in the Valley, we were clear we wanted something that would incorporate the stunning natural landscape that we have on our doorstep in Cissbury Fields. We also wanted something that was different from the very flat 5K route along the sea-front; something that was challenging, but not too much so. Thankfully we knew the perfect person to ask to design such a route - Julia Griggs. As the coach and Founder of the Foxy Ladies Running Club , Julia Griggs has been leading runners of all abilities for more than 10 years from Findon Valley and was only too happy to be involved in the route planning (blame her for the hill climb!). I thought it would be good to offer a mix of road and trails with a cheeky incline to appeal to all. I want to encourage as many people as possible to get out and get moving and to enjoy the wonderful views Findon Valley has to offer. If you put a slightly challenging (but small) hill in people will not only work harder to get up it but feel very happy when they get to the top with what they have achieved, then the down hill is also all the more sweeter! Julia Julia and her Foxy Ladies are always welcoming new members - if you're already a runner or a complete newbie and not sure where to start, why not give Foxy Ladies Running Club call? We're absolutely delighted with the route Julia has designed for us, and we're really looking forward to running it with everyone on September 8th. If you haven't bought your ticket yet, there's still time to do so here: And the route? Here it is, available for you to follow via Strava. Now to get some practices in...

  • The Return of the Findon Valley Dog Show

We had a woofing great time this weekend, returning the Dog Show to the Valley, with our partners Umbrella Events. And not forgetting the sponsorship we enjoyed from our wonderful local businesses to make it all happen. It was a lovely day, with many different craft stalls joining us from far and wide, and the weather was very pleasant too! We really enjoyed meeting so many residents on the FVRA stall, with the dog-themed tombola proving a particular hit. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the day, for those of you who entered your four-legged friends into the various different categories, and congratulations to all the winners. It was so difficult to choose an outright Best-In-Show, so that particular accolade was jointly shared by Minnie (left, below), and Tango (right, below). Congratulations, both! Lovely photos from the day

  • FVRA @ ValeFest 2024

On Friday 12th July FVRA joined The Vale School 'ValeFest 2024' summer event. It is always lovely joining the occasion and being part of the school community. The weather was kind; staying dry and even some sunshine! This year we displayed 'Then & Now' photographs of Findon Valley (you can see more on our Past Images of Findon Valley page here ). For anyone interested in the history of our area FVRA hold a monthly meeting on the last Friday of every month. Further information can be found here . We also hosted a stall where children could enjoy making 'minibeast magnets'. The created some fantastic works of art and loved added glitter and gems. Thank you Vale School for inviting us and we look forward to next year!
