FV5K - Event and Impacted Roads Information

The Findon Valley Residents' Association is proud to be supporting PCaSO, the prostate cancer support charity, by staging the inaugural Findon Valley 5 Kilometre Run (FV5K) and Mini-Mile on the morning of Sunday 8th September.

Many of you will have seen the orange vests of the Foxy Ladies Running Club around the Valley and we have worked closely with Julia Griggs from the Foxy Ladies Running Club who has helped us to plan a route which includes both road and trail running. The event is generously sponsored by Jacobs Steel Estate Agents, which will enable us to make an even bigger donation to our chosen charity.

The event is also supported by Limetree Surgery and we thank them for their input.

I've included a map of the route in this post, below.

The start and finish will be the Lime Tree Surgery Car Park and the runners will set off at 9am sharp, running briefly up Coombe Rise, then along the length of Lime Tree Avenue and then Mayfield Avenue, at which point it turns right up Storrington Rise, then right along the length of Sullington Gardens, before turning left up Central Avenue, left again for the length of Long Meadow, before turning off into Storrington Car Park and into Cissbury Fields. Runners will return to the road at the top of Coombe Rise, running down it to finish where they started at Lime Tree Surgery Car Park.

The Mini-Mile children's run will set off at 10am and be just on the road, and will only include Lime Tree Avenue and Maytree Avenue.

We expect both races to be finished by 11am. For the safety of our runners, large and small, we will have a group of marshals who will briefly stop the traffic as the runners pass through and this may involve a small amount of inconvenience to residents on the road route. We will of course allow access for emergency vehicles at all times but other vehicles will be asked to be prepared to pause as the runners pass by safely.

We would love for you to come out and cheer the runners on as they flash past your front doors!

The participants will then return to Limetree where they can enjoy a well earned coffee and a bacon bagel from Jacob's Bagels.

Lea Harrison, Soft Tissue Therapist will also be on hand offering 10 minute treatments for anyone who would benefit!

If you, or someone you love, are worried and would like to have a PSA blood test, PCaSO and the Lions Club are staging a testing event at the Charmandean Centre on Saturday 14th September and you can make a booking by contacting them at info@psatests.org.uk or by calling 01926 419959.

I thank you in advance for your patience and understanding to enable us to support this very worthy cause.
