Findon Valley History Group - March

Writer: Terry FieldTerry Field

We had a great get together at our March Local History Group with Chris Green who told us all about the history of West Tarring.

With 65 attendees Chris treated us to a fact filled afternoon - we heard about several local stories all with beautiful pictures put together in a wonderful presentation by Jim our archivist.

Chris is a well known Tarring Historian, and having lived right in the historic picturesque high street for many years, Chris was asked to be the lead researcher and appeared on the BBC's Who Do You Think You Are? programme about a past Tarring resident.

We were treated to some unique pictures from Chris's own collection and some of St Andrew's West Tarring Parish Church with absolutely no buildings around it and just small lanes running past!

It’s always a super friendly afternoon get together from 2pm to 4pm on the last Friday of the month.

April’s local history group will have the renowned local author and historian Dr Janet Pennington, from Sussex History Talks (https://sussexhistorytalks.co.uk/) telling us all about Chanctonbury Ring, the story of a Sussex landmark.

Do come and join us! Admission is just £2 and that all goes back into the local history group - everyone is welcome.

Our History Group meet monthly - if you're interested in attending the next session with Dr Janet Pennington is Friday 25th April:
